WHEREAS, SOMA has previously passed a resolution in support of Universal Healthcare (F-17-05);
WHEREAS, the first pillar of SOMA’s 2018-2021 Strategic Plan is to establish its voice on Public policy and healthcare advocacy;1
WHEREAS, the second pillar of SOMA’s 2018-2021 Strategic Plan is to generate professional and career development;1
WHEREAS, the third pillar of SOMA’s 2018-2021 Strategic Plan is to enhance the visibility of SOMA and Osteopathic students on a local and national level;1 therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that SOMA establish a Health Policy taskforce that aims to engage COMs with their local government on the issue of Universal Coverage, more aptly known as, New and Improved Medicare for All,
RESOLVED, that SOMA disseminate toolkits to COMs and host a policy workshop to enhance political outreach,
RESOLVED, that SOMA’s Community Outreach, Political Affairs Chair, Students for a National Health Program, and Public Citizen work in collaboration to pass local government resolutions and registering voters.
Explanatory Statement
The toolkit and resolution that would be disseminated is already put together by SNaHP and Public Citizen.
